Putting to rest all speculations, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio has finally allocated the portfolios to the council of ministers as per seniority.
According to Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) media & communication cell, the chief minister will hold Finance, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (P&AR) and all important policy issues including portfolios not allocated to any minister.
Deputy chief minister and leader of BJP legislature party, Y. Patton has once again got the Home portfolio including National Highways. Patton had served as the Home minister in the previous DAN government headed by T.R. Zeliang.
Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya had appointed Rio as the new chief minister on March 6 and had asked him to prove his majority in the floor of the house on or before March 16.
The session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly will commence from March 13 till 26.
The ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) has 34 MLAs in the 60-member house. Its partners– NDPP has 18, BJP- 12, JD (U)-1, NPP- 2 MLAs besides an Independent.
Rio to move trust vote in NLA today
People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio will face a trust vote in the NLA Tuesday when it meets for its first session. After the election of the new speaker, Rio will move the trust vote in the House, NLA commissioner and secretary, N Benjamin Newmai said.
During the NLA session, which will begin from March 13 to 26, the House will also witness administering of oath to the newly elected members. After a long break, from March 14 to 21, the session will resume and see presentation and passage of budget on March 22.
Besides, the house would also take up following business — laying of statement of Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act (FRBMA); presentation of C&AG report; announcement of constitution of various financial and non-financial committees by the speaker and announcement of panel of chairman.
