Nomination papers of 227 candidates have been cleared after scrutiny for the February 27 Assembly elections in Nagaland, additional chief electoral officer, N. Moa Aier said.
Aier said scrutiny of nomination papers of a total of 257 candidates who filed their papers for the elections was held on Thursday at the respective offices of the Returning Officers, in which 227 candidates were found eligible.
Addl. CEO further informed that the nomination papers of 29 candidates were found invalid while scrutiny of one candidate from under 33-Suruhoto Assembly Constituency was adjourned to February 10, Additional CEO informed through a press note.
It may be noted that the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed on February 12 while polling will be held on February 27 and the counting will be done on March 3.
